Next month (in November), the Brussels-Capital Region is organising a one-day workshop to explore how inter-regional cooperation could help to meet the challenges of the circular economy in cities and regions, raise participants‘ awareness of the spatial requirements of the transition to a circular economy and include circularity in partners’ spatial strategies. This is the 3rd workshop organized as part of the local & regional workshop series for the ASSET project.
Based on concrete cases in the Brussels area, the theme of this particular workshop is “recycling, reusing in CBE” and will focus on the topics of: adequate scales; space for material flows; and people stakeholders, roles, etc. In this workshop, the following questions will be addressed:
- What places and spaces should be allocated to the circular economy? How can the necessary transition be anchored in the urban, metropolitan, regional and supra-regional space? - What are the needs of the various players and sectors involved in the circular economy? Where can these needs be met and what local resources are needed? What synergies are possible between sectors? - How can we manage competition between the infrastructures required for the various functions of the city?
Target group:
This workshops in Brussels is aimed for both internal parties(perspective.brussels and Brussels environment) and externalparties (including associated partners and local stakeholders from public, private and academic organisations, representatives of the different sectors involved in CBE).
Expected outcomes:
- Assessment of the needs of different stakeholders and sectors: examining the needs of sectors involved in construction and the built environment can be spatially resolved in a particular area, taking into account how they operate, their constraints, needs, and required services. - Identifying where these needs can be addressed and determining the necessary resources (space, transportation/logistics, etc.) to do so.
